Hypoglycemia – Top Tips, Guidelines and Suggested Meal Plan

I was recently diagnosed with hypoglycemia and I must admit that while it’s a little scary, I am for the most part very relieved.  It has taken over three years and several doctors, tests and misdiagnosis to get to this point.  At least now, I can do something about the unpleasant symptoms of hypoglycemia which for me were mostly dizzy spells, exhaustion, insomnia, headaches and blurry vision. Symptoms can vary widely, so please see this factsheet on hypoglycemia which outlines causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

I’ve bought the books, spoken to a dietician and still I search for clarity regarding all things diet.  Being gluten and lactose intolerant means that my diet is a bit tricky but it’s all manageable.  Knowing that what I eat, how much and when I eat directly effects my productivity and how I feel during the day is motivation enough to pay close attention to my diet.  Gone are the days were I could get totally engrossed in my work and ignore my hunger pangs for hours on end.  Now, I eat five or six small meals a day and I keep them balanced and lo and behold, I’m feeling good!

If you are experiencing symptoms of hypoglycemia then may I suggest you speak with your doctor for proper diagnosis.

I found the information below to be very helpful and I hope you do, too.
